It is ideally situated for the tourist wishing to savour the delights of this area of the Highlands, and for the business guest, who will be within easy reach of the commercial and industrial heart of the area. Our History

The hotel was purpose-built in 1980 with the addition of the games room and 3rd floor in more recent years. it is built on land originally owned by Forbes of Culloden, a prominent figure in the events surrounding the Battle of Culloden in April 1746. The replacement for the original Culloden House (now a hotel) can be easily reached on foot from here, and the dovecot, ice house and stables are still present. Culloden battlefield is nearby, and has an interactive visitor centre.

The Smithton Hotel is a friendly family run, 16 bedroom hotel taking pride in providing our visitors with the best service at all times. Our staff are welcoming and will go the extra mile to ensure our guests have the finest experience.
